We provide newsgroups through Newsguy News
Service, a service which is currently ranked within the Top 20 on Freenix's Top 1000 news server
report.
1. You can access the newsgroups through
a regular newsreader, by pointing to:
news.westpa.net
2. Or you can use
your web browser to access through their Direct Read News(DRN),.
This will allow you to read, post, and decode news real-time
with a standard web browser at:

With each revision, the popularity of Direct Read News continues to grow,
and new users are typically impressed with its functionality, as well as the
performance advantages that DRN offers over a NNTP newsreader. The latest
revision to our web/newsgroup interface includes a number of multimedia
features that your customers might find useful... - Instant Image Display

Instant Image Display:
Image or photo newsgroups represent some of the most popular forums on the
Newsguy service. When a photo has been attached to a newsgroup post, this
new DRN feature will automatically embed/display the photo within the post's
message body. Prior to this revision, DRN would display the entire binary
source for the photo, and a link that would jump to the decoded photo.
Support For Multiple / Inline Images:
DRN now automatically displays multiple / inline images within a single
post. In the past, when a multiple image post was viewed through Direct
Read News, the interface would only recognize the first image in the series
and wouldn't view the remaining images within the post.
Support for HTML Posts:
DRN's ability to display HTML formatted posts has been enhanced. HTML posts
introduce a number of variables that can make the decoding process tricky,
but these changes will help DRN handle those variables better (format-types,
embedded graphics, font styles, etc.)
Viewing Binary Source:
While the "Instant Image Display" feature has eliminated the binary source
information from a post's message body, we've added a new "Source" button to
the DRN toolbar that provides easy access to that info. To view the binary
source for an image that has been posted, simply click the "Source" button
and DRN will display the entire binary source and header information.
Preferences Option:
A new feature within the Direct Read News "Preferences" area gives users the
option of instantly displaying newsgroup photos within a post, or replacing
the photo with a hypertext link that will display the photo when clicked
upon. (The "Preference" options are available to commercial-port accounts
